Learning support refers to the additional support some ākonga need to engage and achieve in education. At ABS we believe that the foundations of learning support are the inclusion of ākonga, engagement of parents and whānau, and relationships with Kaiako.
At ABS, diversity and differences are celebrated in inclusive school and community contexts. We takes a Discovery approach to match the identified need with possible support. Our learning support is ākonga centred, needs based, flexible and personalised. We have opportunities to draw on a range of possible supports from the community.
Enrichment: Our conceptual curriculum enables us to provide opportunities for enrichment. These programmes focus largely on extending students in the academic or creative domains. The content of the programmes may vary from term to term and the students involved may change accordingly to meet identified needs.
Students that have been identified are well supported within our classrooms through differentiation of regular class programmes, opportunities arising out of our universal design for learning approach, flexible grouping with like minded students and our collaborative learning spaces.
