Welcome to Ashburton Borough School‘Learners of Today, Prepared for Tomorrow’Set in a thriving rural centre one hour south of Christchurch, in the picturesque South Island of New Zealand, Ashburton is within easy reach of uncrowded beaches, clear rivers, fertile farmland and ski fields amidst the spectacular snow-capped Southern Alps.
Our co-educational primary school focuses on the education of 5-13 year old students. We have a total of 350 students, from a diverse range of cultures, for whom we provide a rich and varied curriculum. For many years we have enjoyed much support from our community in Ashburton and the wider Mid-Canterbury district. We highly value relationships with all involved in our school.
Our own park-like grounds contain excellent well-kept gardens, courts and sports fields, which provide a warm, nurturing environment for all of our students.
Academically our students achieve outstanding results in both International and National Competitions. With a strong emphasis on studying, expectations on students to achieve across the curriculum at optimum levels are high. Many students participate in competitions, Science Fairs and research work and musical, cultural and sporting opportunities enable students to be members of groups of the highest standard.
We are a school pursing an interest in the curriculum and philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Organisation, and we are a UNESCO school. We also hold the coveted GreenGold Award for being and EnviroSchool.
Clearly student welfare is an important aspect in having international students in our school.
International experience in childhood provides lifelong benefits. Whether on a short-term or full time programme, your child's stay with us will help him or her progress through the rest of his or her education with increased ability and confidence. Our programmes and resources are proven to ensure your child's success and well-being.
